All of these documents live in the one database. Tutorials are separated out in views using the Type property option “Tutorial” and this is their only real difference. This database is a wiki and is the foundation of the Company Home Page. A wiki database has the functionality of a normal database with some extras:
Inside SOPs, Policies, and Tutorials, there is a button named “Click to sign that you understand”. If you do understand the document, click the button. This will add your name to the list of people that have signed the document. If the document has changed substantially and needs people to understand it again, you can delete all of the signatures. The list of people who have signed the document is down the bottom in the toggle “Signed by”.
Do not sign a document if you don’t understand it, or if you believe it is incorrect. Instead, use “Request Updates For This Page”.
Documents only need to be signed by people who are related to the page they belong to. This might be a department, location, or a resource. The people who still need to sign the document are automatically listed at the top under “Required signatures”.
If you see anything incorrect, or an opportunity to improve a document, click on the button “Request updates for this page”. This will open a new change request document. If you change your mind you can delete it. Change request documents are part of the Comms system and will show up in the Inbox of the person in “Send to”. It will also show up in you Outbox until it is resolved. Follow the instructions on the page.
All policies belong to either a department, a location, or a resource. Policies that apply to all staff should be created in a department called “All staff” which should include all of the staff.
<aside> 💡 A policy belongs with the people who should see it, not the people who manage it. For example, a lot of policies managed by Human Resources will be created in the “All staff” department’s page. This is because all staff need them to show on their dashboards.

Most documents will probably sit within departments. Location based documents are often used when a business has multiple workplaces and require somethings to be managed differently in each. This might include closing up procedures, travel policies, and various other distinctions.
Resources are typically physical things like cars or keys, but for documents it can be handy to also include online services, and other more conceptual things. You might have a resource called “Social media” that is related to your “Social media policy”.
