What is it?

At the top of every dashboard, and at the top of the company home page is an area for staff announcements. This is used to communicate with all staff. A typical message might be “Friday night social starts downstairs today at 5:30pm”.

Who can edit it?

There is a page that begins life at the top-level page of your Notion setup, called “📢 Staff communication”. While it lives there, everyone is able to edit announcements. If you want to reduce the number of staff that can edit announcements, it needs to be moved and shared.

Moving “📢 Staff communication”

You can restrict who is able to edit announcements by moving “📢 Staff communication” into a private page. Just drag it from where it sits into your left sidebar under the section called “Private”.

Alternatively, you can create a page inside of “Private” and drag it into there. Clicking on the six-dot-handle next to “📢 Staff communication” also lets you select “Move to” and choose the page to move it to.

When you move “📢 Staff communication” to your private space, no one else will see the announcements on their Dashboard or the Company home page. So you’ll have to share it with them as “Can view”.

Sharing“📢 Staff communication”

Once you’ve moved “📢 Staff communication” to somewhere that is not shared to everyone, you’ll need to change the sharing settings.

  1. Go to the page, and click on “Share” in the top-right.
