Does not work using “Path 2” ⚠️

Currently Notion does not enable buttons that edit database page contents when the user has “Can only create” access, even if they do have edit access to the page the button edits.

This warning will be removed if Notion changes this functionality

What the Punch Clock is

The Punch Clock lets a team member clock on and off with a single tap. Each punch records a timestamped entry in the time log and automatically works out the duration, hours, and the pay cycle the time falls into — giving you a clean, reviewable record of when and how long each person worked.

It is built to be completely self-contained. This page is the only thing a staff member needs. Even if you share nothing else in your workspace with them, they can punch in and out from their computer or the Notion app on their phone.

Setting it up for a staff member

There are two ways a staff member gets access to the Punch Clock. Pick whichever suits the person.

Path 1 — They already have access

Check if they’re listed in the sharing settings of the Punch Clock page. They will automatically have access if they’ve already been given access to the main Notion page for your setup. In this case, just send them a link to the punch clock page and ask them to bookmark it.

Path 2 — Share the Punch Clock on its own

⚠️Not currently available⚠️ Use this when the Punch Clock is the only thing you want the person to have.

  1. Open the Time Logger database and click Share in the top-right corner.
    1. Invite the staff member(s) by email.
    2. Change their access level to No access - Can only create.
  2. Open the Punch Clock page and click Share in the top-right corner.
  3. Invite the staff member(s) by email.
  4. Change their access level to Can view
