<aside> 💡 Never add new people into the “People” views. Always add them into a business. The business the person is in then determines if that person is a client, supplier, or something else. If you don’t want to create new businesses for each person, make a general business, eg: “All clients”, then add them all to there.

Types of People

When creating people, it matters where you create them. If you create a person in the staff views of your own business, then they get a Staff page which includes dashboards. Otherwise, when you create staff in any other business, they automatically have a typical person page that does not have dashboards.

Typical person’s page (Not staff)

At the top of the page are four buttons that can be customized. They are for automatically logging communication with that person. It will show in the table below in the “Log communication” view for a day.

If you want to communicate internally about a person, use their “Active messages” view to create your message.

Below this section are three toggles for:

Projects

These are all of the projects that have been linked to this person by the property in Projects called “Their people”

Tasks

These are tasks that are about them, not for them to do. Only unfinished tasks will show here. The task will have the property “External people” linked to them. This is typically for managing tasks where you need someone outside your business to do something, but it is managed by their contact in your business.

Meetings

Shows all of the meetings where they’ve been included in “External people”.

Adding new staff to Notion

To add a new staff member to your Ultimate Business Notion Setup, Share the main page with them, then go to your business page. Dashboard → Businesses → Us. Add the new person to the “Staff view”. Open their new page and set “Notion user” as them. Add their name to the Dashboard or Workstation, and send them the link to that page. See: Adding new staff to Notion

Views in People

Most of the views for people are in the Dashboard. See Dashboard People
